The Strategic Plan covering the period 2023-2027 aims to provide a comprehensive guidance and strategic direction of the Regional Centre of Groundwater Resources (RCGW) operations in the five years period. The RCGW was established in 2015 and implemented the first Strategic Plan that covered the period 2018-2022. The Mission of the RCGW is to advance the sustainable management and development of groundwater resources through research, education and training. The current Strategic Plan will be implemented within the period 2023-2027 and it is the second (2nd) one being implemented by the RCGW since its establishment in 2015. This Strategic Plan reflects our renewed commitment to providing thought leadership, scientific excellence, and practical solutions in groundwater resource management. Our vision is aligned not only with Kenya’s development agenda—including Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)—but also with global efforts such as Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 on Clean Water and Sanitation. We’ve aligned our vision and mission with five strategic pillars that seek to: generate and apply scientific knowledge for sustainable groundwater management; enhance professional and institutional capacity; ensure long-term sustainability; strengthen strategic partnerships; and modernize our internal systems for greater efficiency.
